In line with our strategic sustainability goals defined in the 2023 Sustainability Report we have completed a number of transitional tasks to reduce our carbon footprint with the following areas of reduction.
Email signatures:
These have continued to achieve annual CO2 savings in excess of 105kg, based upon a daily file size reduction of 151mb.
File sharing:
We have reduced the amount of internal file sharing via email through the use of server content sharing. Server content sharing allows K2 to manage access via logins or passwords. This feature is vital for dealing with documents that have a high level of confidentiality. This also allows for multiple people to collaborate on projects.

The reasons for FastTrack

He explains that the service was developed to address the growing need for agility in business operations, enabling organisations to quickly adapt to changing market demands.
Website:
We reviewed our website build with the goal of providing local in-country language content tailored to local culture and needs.
To determine the energy efficiency of our website configuration we used a website carbon calculator (websitecarbon.com). This led to us evaluating which of the different components of the website could be changed to reduce energy usage.
Current CO2 measurement for annual usage (based upon 10,000 visitors a month): 145.55kg.
Previous file share amounts:
We project that the marketing team’s daily
file share volume exceeded 200MB in 2022.
Savings & CO2 reduction:
The implementation of Microsoft OneDrive file sharing has resulted in the removal of this excess volume. This reduction has led to annual savings of over 105kg of CO2, totalling 1,645kg in 2023.

Improvements to be made:
We are actively engaged in refining our website infrastructure and optimizing visitor traffic to minimize inefficiencies and reduce carbon emissions. This initiative will entail a holistic approach encompassing keyword optimization, usability enhancements, and technical refinements to the displayed content.
- Image optimisation.
- Ensuring redundant information is removed.
- Stripping out content on mobile devices (Accelerated Mobile Pages).
- Localised sites for reduced network latency.
- Trimming down on bulky JavaScript.
- Presenting content more effectively.
- Using Cloud based fonts.
Procurement of promotional items:
- We are dedicated to fostering partnerships with suppliers who offer locally sourced goods, including stationery and apparel.
- We have transitioned away from vinyl and PVC materials in all stationery products, opting instead for 100% biodegradable PVC-free materials and recycled pulps.
Event hosting:
- Our events are exclusively hosted at venues committed to sustainability practices.
- All event venues are required to provide reusable glassware.
- Cut flowers are no longer procured for events.
- Any gifts provided adhere to our guidelines for promotional item procurement.
